Your Mind creates Your World
One of the most amazing discoveries from quantum physics is that the world we live in is not as solid and definite as we have been led to think.
For over 300 years, classical physics as taught by Sir Isaac Newton and subsequent scientists have convinced us that the world we live in is a distinct entity that is separate and free from our presence and influence. This dis-empowering view has man questioning his purpose in life.
However, in recent years, experimental results from quantum physics have begun to challenge that view. In one particular experiment, observing the nature of a quantum particle, scientists were surprised to find out that the very nature of this particle changes according to the observers. It behaves in one way when it is not observed and in another when it is. In addition, different observer can influence its behaviour differently too. This observer effect has tremendous implication.
Since quantum particles are the stuff the whole universe is made of, this means that we are living in a universe where we directly participate in its creation and evolution. What we hold in our thoughts determine the outcomes.
In other words, we manifest this universe into being. We, collectively, are the co-creator of this universe. We can directly influence its evolution.
In fact, in an experiment called the International Peace Project in the Middle East, it was found that all it takes for us to influence our world is just square-root of 1% of the population. In other words, in a population of 1,000,000, we only need 100 people to collectively focus on peace to reduce the incidence of violence in the population.
Suddenly, this new view of the world we live in elevated us into a new role, and a powerful one at that, which for many is not only incredulous but also frightening. After all, with great power comes great responsibility.
This Universe is Impartial
The universe we live in works according to the natural Law of Attraction, which is impersonal and impartial. The universe does not favor one over another. It certainly is not biased or prejudiced. In fact, it does not even choose right over wrong, or good over bad. It works equally for all.
In that case, some argue, why do good at all? Isn’t it more fun to do bad?
The answer is that while the universe may be impartial, we – individual streams of consciousness – stand to receive whatever we give out to the universe. Like a giant computer, the universe gives out to you whatever you feed it. So if you give it garbage, you can expect getting garbage back.
In other words, if you do good you get good coming back to you. Likewise, if you do bad you will suffer the bad consequences that will come to you. Since everyone wants to be happy and free from suffering, it only makes logical sense to do good so that we get good in return.
In fact, doing good and avoiding evil are just skillful behaviors. These behaviors lead us to happiness as well as to eventually purify our mind. It is the most basic form of mental cultivation and purification.
To contemplate deeper, we ask ourselves this question:
“Why are virtues good? What are they good for?”
Virtues like unconditional love, compassion, altruistic joy, peace, generosity, tolerance, non-judgmental, patience and faith are good when upheld in an individual because they are the basis for our spiritual cultivation. These skillful behaviors and attitudes will eventually lead us to understand that we are all inter-connected, inseparable at the source.
Hurting another person only brings the pain back to us. In fact, the basis for all acts of evil arises from the fear within us. And what do we fear? We fear lack of security and loss of life. We fear pain. We fear loss of face. We fear many things and the basis for this fear is a belief that we are merely this physical body.
The truth is that we are more than this physical body – much, much more. We are spiritual beings and this physical manifestation is but a small extension of our being. As spiritual beings, we are immortal. We are already complete and whole.
To overcome this unfounded fear, we must deal with our erroneous beliefs.
The Law of Attraction and How It Works
This relative universe that we live in works according to the Law of Attraction.
According to this law, like attracts like. Since the universe is made up of vibrating energy, what this law means is that similar vibrating energy has the tendency to attract each other. They come together.
We see this law working in our physical work with the principle of sympathetic resonance. An example of this is the shattering of a glass when a singer sings a high pitch that causes the glass to resonate with it. You can see an example of this at this YouTube link.
Vibrating energy creates visible or physical forms, and you can see how this works here. Different frequencies create different patterns, and these repeating patterns eventually become forms.
All creation begins with the mind. Thoughts are vibrating energies. Once a thought is launched, its vibration attracts similar vibrating energies to itself to begin the process of creation. Sustaining the energy to this initial thought is what allows the manifestation to come to completion.
