Dr. Ong Tien Kwan graduated from University Malaya in 1989 after 5 years of medical education and training in University Hospital, Kuala Lumpur.
He did his housemanship in Kuala Lumpur General Hospital (now called Hospital Kuala Lumpur) for 1 year before being posted to serve 2 years in Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan, Sabah.
In 1992, he returned to University Hospital for further training with the Primary Care Unit in preparation for his career as a general practitioner in private practice. He joined a small group practice in 1993 before setting out on his own private practice in Bandar Sungai Long in July 1996.
Dr. Ong is also very active in social and Buddhist works. He is the founder President of Sungai Long Buddhist Society and is also one of the co-founders of the Maha Karuna Compassionate Home in Taman Midah which houses the old and the destitute.
Dr. Ong believes strongly in the benefits of meditation. He has been meditating since 1993 and is now facilitating a meditation class every Wednesday. He has also written a small guide book called “Meditation: Tool for Transformation”.
Dr. Ong has keen interests in self improvement and mind science, and has authored several books on these subjects. He also gives talks and facilitates workshops on health and self-care, stress management and personal transformation.
